If there are obstacles, not 'the infinite

If you can count, not the stars

If you tremble or shake, and not 'a mountain

If increases or decreases, is not 'an ocean

If it passes over the bridges, not 'a river

If you can 'grasp, and not' the rainbow

Here are the parables of the six external perceptions

Keynote of Aquarius:

Water of Life am I, poured forth
for thirsty men.

THE DOMINANT INFLUENCE of the Festival of Aquarius stimulates the spiritual capacity of man to love and to serve his fellowmen, to become inclusive and compassionate, and to share his own resources freely and fully in seeking to meet the needs he recognises.  Such an influence is greatly needed in a world where humanity has crystallised into a condition of selfishness and separateness.  In the long run nothing can withstand the potent energies pouring through the constellation Aquarius.  These energies are dominated by the second ray of love and wisdom, the fourth ray of harmony through conflict, and the seventh ray of order and organisation with its power to establish relationships and to anchor spiritual energy in material form.

The Aquarian state of consciousness, as a pervasive force in many today, cannot fail to stimulate change in the consciousness of the human race as a whole.  To the extent that the world servers within the human kingdom can maintain their position within the stream of Aquarian energy, receiving, giving and living the power and the love available to them, so will they serve to irradiate and transform the whole human environment.  Central to all experience in the life of a disciple influenced by Aquarius is the beauty of group life, group good and group service.

At the time of each full moon Festival, energy qualified by the constellation influencing the period flows into the range of human awareness, establishing the divine attributes in the consciousness of humanity.  This spiritual inflow can be channeled in meditation into the minds and hearts of all people. The technique of meditation governs all expansions of consciousness, all registration of Plan or Purpose and the entire process of evolutionary unfoldment.

The monthly full moon work is providing the seed of the coming new world religion.  In the future all people of spiritual inclination and intention everywhere will keep the same holy days.  This unanimity of effort will bring about a pooling of spiritual resources and a united spiritual effort.  Individuals involved in this invocation work will increasingly be able to act as mediating points, bringing in great spiritual energies and stepping them down for the benefiting and stimulation of the masses and the three lower kingdoms.

Signore, fa’ di me
Uno strumento della tua pace.
Dove c’è odio, io porti amore.
Dove c’è discordia, io porti l’unione.
Dove c’è errore, io porti la verità.
Dove c’è dubbio, io porti la fede.
Dove c’è disperazione, io porti la speranza.

O Divino Maestro,
che io non cerchi tanto
di essere consolato,
quanto a consolare;
di essere compreso,
quanto di comprendere;
di essere amato, quanto di amare.

Infatti: donando si riceve,
dimenticandosi si trova comprensione,
perdonando si è perdonati,
morendo si risuscita alla vera vita.

Masters of Wisdom

Why do the Masters seem to operate only in rich countries and not in the Third World?

A. This is not, in fact, the case. The Masters direct Their energies and attention at least as much to the Third World as to the developed world. However, the changes which must take place in the world have to be initiated from the seat of the problem: the greed, selfishness and complacency of the developed nations. Therefore, much of the Masters’ work involves inspiring disciples in the richer countries who can work for change.

Q. Are the Masters a group of people?

A. The Masters form a group, They have only group consciousness. They have no personality consciousness at all; They think and work and live in terms of group consciousness. That is not to say that they are not all quite different in quality and character, depending on the particular ray under which They are formed. They will have their differences of opinion: on how to proceed in dealing with a particular point of the Plan, different ideas of whether humanity is ready for this stimulus or that, whether it is too soon, or whatever. They have different ideas but They work habitually from what is called the Buddhic level of consciousness, as a group. They are in continuous telepathic rapport with each other.

Q. What role and what tasks will the Masters take on?

A. Like the Christ, the Masters, too, will act as advisors on matters of all kinds, relating to all aspects of our lives. As I have said, there will be a Master in what one might call a presidential post in certain countries and in these countries you will find, therefore, some aspects of Hierarchical government, perhaps forming a two-tier system with a democratic form of government. One does not preclude the other. Many young people are very suspicious of the term ‘‘master.’’ They see it as conferring some authority over us. This is not the case; a Master is simply a master over Himself and the forces of nature. By token of Their experience and Their spiritual achievement, a degree of Hierarchical supervision will be seen to be totally acceptable within a democratic framework.

Q. What I want to know is, were Masters born the same as anybody else, or did They come into the world in a different way?

A. The Masters who have come into the world now have come in fully physical bodies. Two-thirds of the Masters today are in fully physical bodies.

There are certain Masters Who are in the same body as They were when They took the Fifth Initiation, which takes Them into Mastery, so They have not taken on another body. There are other Masters Who have created what’s called the "Mayavirupa"; this is a body of manifestation, created by an act of will. There are other Masters still, Who are in bodies which are born in the normal way, as children, and they’ve grown up, but as Masters. There are many different methods for the manifestation of a Master.

The normal method, or the most frequent, for the manifestation of an avatar, is to take over the body of a disciple, as happened with Jesus. The Christ took over the body of Jesus and manifested through it for the last three years. The Christ, Maitreya, remained in the Himalayas, but His consciousness, or some aspect of His consciousness, whatever was needed at that time, took over the body of the Disciple Jesus and worked through Him for the last three years of His life. This time He has come Himself.

Q. On average how many lives do we have to become a Master?

A. It takes hundreds of thousands of incarnational experiences to come up to the first initiation, the first of five. Usually, it takes an average of seven or eight incarnations between the first and second initiation. Between the second and third the whole process speeds up and the third can be taken in the same life as the second if that is taken early enough; then probably the fourth and fifth in the next two or three lives. So, there are very few lives in the last phase of the initiatory process, but up to the first initiation there are literally hundreds of thousands of incarnations.

Q. If Masters were present throughout history, how could They stand by and watch happenings like Holocaust, wars, the Inquisition, the decimation of humanity in many different ways, without helping?

A. They did not stand by and watch it happen. There has never been a war, a holocaust, pain or suffering of any group in which the Masters did not help that group to the greatest extent allowed by the Law of Karma. They are not allowed simply to take away the results of humanity's actions. The Law of Cause and Effect, which is the Law of Karma, binds the Masters as it binds us. We have the power, individually and as a group - as humanity - to change the way we act. It is we who create holocausts and wars, who involve whole groups in assassination, murder, rape, pillage and the rest. We created the Inquisition - the cruelty of the Inquisition is the cruelty of humanity itself. It came out of the fanaticism which is the direct result of the misuse of the energies of Pisces. The fanatical belief in their own ideal created the Holocaust, the Inquisition, and almost every war. Some wars have been for gain, but the wars which involved an ideology were the result of a fanatical belief that a particular ideal was the only one fit for humanity. That has nothing to do with the Masters.

The Masters are perfect. Their involvement with us is by grace: They do not have to be here, They have finished with this world and are here simply to serve the Plan of Evolution, which involves us. But we are not the only part of that evolution - there is the animal kingdom, the vegetable and mineral kingdoms, the great angelic or devic evolutions, so that what the Masters have to do vis-a-vis humanity is only a tiny fraction of Their work. In so far as They are able - under law - to intervene and prevent suffering of humanity, so They do.

Q. The Tibetan (Master D.K.) talks of esotericists responding to the astral reflection of the Hierarchy rather than the reality. How do you yourself know which you are communicating with? What advice would you give to aspirants regarding discriminating between two?

A. It is true that on the astral planes there are powerful thought-forms of the known Masters, the astral constructions of devoted aspirants and disciples over the years. Many astrally sensitive people contact these illusory 'Masters' and receive back the 'teachings', astrally embodied, which at least to some extent have come originally from real Masters through mentally polarized and soul-focused disciples. There are many such instances today, some of them very well known and respected. (There are several groups and probably many individuals who consider that I come into this category of deluded disciples. I leave it to time to prove conclusively that this is not the case.)

To come to the question, how do I know with which I am communicating, the real or illusory Master? It is obviously possible to contact an astral reflection and think it a Master, but it is impossible, I would say, to be contacted by a Master (because the disciple is contacted by the Master and not the other way round) without knowing with certainty that one is so contacted. Obviously, if a Master wishes, for his purposes, to contact a disciple, He will find a way to do so - and leave the disciple in no doubt. This can be either a physical or a telepathic contact. In my case, since I am engaged in this public work of preparation for Maitreya, my Master was at pains to establish his reality - and I insisted that he did so. No astral thought-forms can heal. My Master and his Colleagues perform acts of healing which amaze those who know of them. No astral thought-form can make solid objects disappear and re-appear (see the preface to my book The Reappearance of the Christ and the Masters of Wisdom). No astral thought-form can or does put the disciple through the intense de-glamorization and disillusioning which my Master put me though in preparation for my public service. No astral thought-form sends a photograph of itself to the disciple in contact. I could go on and on. In a thousand ways my Master has proved his reality to me (and countless others). The touchstone is objectivity and lack of glamour. It is true to say that my Master has never made one statement which could feed the glamour or ambition of any individual, myself or others. On the contrary, many disciples have been enormously enriched by his wise advice, objectively but lovingly given.

My advice to aspirants is this: discrimination is the key. Look for objectivity. Beware of those who offer initiations from Masters - with or without a certificate! Beware of those who tell you that the Masters need your very special help (usually financial!) in Their plans. Beware of those of low degree who claim an impossible contact with the Chohans (6th degree Initiates) and beware of any communication, through others or direct, which feeds your ego and glamours, and gives you the sense of importance which all long for and few indeed deserve.

Writings: Through H P Blavatsky – The Secret Doctrine and The Voice of the Silence. Through Alice Bailey – 20 titles published by Lucis Trust.

Eastern teachers: The various Eastern gurus who come to the West, such as Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and Swami Prabhupada (of the Hare Krishnas) are all disciples of a certain Master. They are sent to the West to introduce one or other form of meditation or spritual practice.

There are also Avatars that appear in India, such as Ramakrishna, Vivekananda and Sai Baba. They are not actually members of this planet's Spiritual Hierarchy but 'come in' from outside the planet. The group of Masters involved with the Western world (such as DK, Morya, and Koot Humi) are members of the Trans Himalayan Lodge. Unlike the members of the separate, South Indian Lodge, these Masters do not work openly.

Eddy, Mary Baker (2.0) (1821 – 1910) Founder of Christian Science

Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
Q. What possibilities exist today in terms of practical preparation for dying consciously – courses, seminars, literature? What can you recommend?
A. The writings of the Master DK through Alice A. Bailey; The Tibetan Book of the Dead; the writings of Elisabeth Kubler-Ross.

Q. According to Jewish tradition, Enoch, who had maintained the line of righteousness, was taken up into heaven. He was the first fully Self-realized person, and became, upon his transfiguration, the great being Metatron, also called the Teacher of Teachers. Noting the similarity between the consonants (vowels are not written in Hebrew) in Metatron (MTTR) and Maitreya (MTR), as well as in the office – namely Teacher of Teachers, is Metatron Maitreya?
A. Yes.

English Master Is on the 3rd Ray and has taken five initiations. He was the Inspiration behind the Labour movement and the disciple Karl Marx. He works mainly with the political and economic groups world-wide, seeking to guide them into a synthesis.

St Francis of Assisi (3.5) (1182 – 1226) Now a Master of the fifth degree and resides in the Italian alps.

Gandhi, Mahatma (2.0) (1869 – 1948) Indian leader. Not currently in incarnation.

Comte de St Germain (Master) Known as the "Wonderman of Europe". One of the rare occurrences of a Master living among people, other than in India. He 'died' at the end of the 18th century. He was born as a Prince in the family of the Rakoczis in Budapest. (see Master R )

Gopi Krishna (1.7) The information in the book The Way to Self-Knowledge was dictated by a Master. Although direct dictation is rare with a disciple with this degree of development, Gopi Krishna was unusually sensitive to mental impression by his Master.

Gurdjieff, Georges (2.2) (1872 – 1949) Esoteric teacher.

Hercules (2.2) (c8000 BC) Avatar. Taught using pictorial dramas. The Labours of Hercules were not factual occurrences but scenes from his dramas that symbolised the path of discipleship. Now a Master on Sirius

Hermes (4.0) (c7000 BC) Avatar, also known as Hermes Trismegistus. He is now a Master on Shamballa.

Hilarion (Master) Was previously St Paul. Became a Master in the fourth century and now heads the Fifth Ray Department. He will be one of the first group of Masters to work openly on the physical plane.

Isaiah (2.3) (8th Century BC) The most inspired of all the prophets. His point of evolution was very advanced for his time.

Jesus the Nazarene (4.0) Born on 15 March, 24BC, to Joseph (2.2) and Mary (2.2), and died on the cross at the age of 33. Received his early training in the Essene community. Overshadowed by Maitreya from the Baptism in the River Jordan until the Crucifixion. Three of the close disciples understood this role, but the bulk of the disciples did not know the whole truth. In the Essene scriptures Jesus is referred to as the "pierced Messiah", and Maitreya as the "Teacher of Righteousness". The Dead Sea Scrolls are a more accurate account of the events surrounding the life of Jesus than are the biblical texts. Their discovery in 1947, together with the Nag Hammadi Scrolls in 1945, were inspired by the Master Jesus to shed a clearer light on the events of that time in preparation for the Christ's return today.

He is well known in Bible history, coming before us first as Joshua (2.3) the Son of Nun, appearing again in the time of Ezra as Jeshua, and, as related in the book of Zechariah, he took the third initiation as Joshua.

After appearing as Jesus his next incarnation was Apollonius of Tyana. In that life He became a Master and has been based in Palestine until recently. In the 6th to 7th centuries He visited and taught the Native Americans and Polynesians of the Pacific. He has special work to do with the Christian Churches and will eventually take over the Throne of St. Peter in Rome, the city where He has been based since 1989. He travels around the world a great deal and is one of the most important Masters for the West. He has seven Masters working under him in the Americas.

Besides Peter (3.5) (Master Morya) and John (3.0) (Master Koot Humi), the disciples Matthew (2.4), Mark (2.3) and Luke (2.4) are still in our Hierarchy and have important roles to play in the coming time.

Krishnamurti (4.0) (1895 – 1986) One of a small group that were prepared as a possible vehicle for Maitreya to manifest through. Maitreya then decided that He would come in person so no longer required a disciple to overshadow. Krishnamurti established himself as a great teacher in his own right, with a tremendous following throughout the world. Through The Associate Maitreya has said "He was a true disciple of Maitreya. The teachings of Krishnamurti are the teachings of Maitreya." He is due to reincarnate before the end of the century. [Share International Article about Krishnamurti]

Kukai (2.0) (774 – 835) Esoteric Buddhist who is now a Master of the fifth degree, not in incarnation but working on the higher planes of the planet.

His main fault as a disciple was to sweep away altogether the concept of God. In addition the main fault of Marxism itself lay in the imposition of the theory, especially when it was in order to satisfy personal ambitions for power.

Master – The Master of Benjamin Creme, whose name for various reasons has not been given out. He is the source of Mr Creme's information regarding the Reappearance of the Christ, and the instigator of the Transmission Meditation work.

E-mail Print PDF

The following information is taken from the article by Benjamin Creme "Artists and their Rays", which appears in Maitreya's Mission Volume 3. All the artists mentioned in the article were inspired by Masters and have since themselves become Masters: Cimabue (2.35) (1240-1302), Giotto (2.4) (1267-1337), Rembrandt (3.0) (1606-1669), Leonardo da Vinci (4.4) (1452-1519), Raphael (3.0) (1483-1520), Michelangelo (3.3) (1475-1564), Paolo Veronese (3.0) (1528-1588), El Greco (3.0) (1541-1614), Albrecht Durer (2.4) (1471-1528), Velasquez (2.4) (1599-1660).

Cimabue is now a sixth-degree Master working on one of the higher planes of this earth. Giotto is now a sixth-degree initiate. Michelangelo is now on Sirius but has taken the equivalent of seven initiations. Paolo Veronese is now a Master on the 7th Ray and will be very active in the world in the New Age. He will be the inspiration behind the first 70 or 80 years of New Age architecture and so will powerfully affect the architecture of the next 150 years. El Greco is now a sixth-degree Master and working on one of the higher planes of this earth. Durer is on the sacred planet, Vulcan. Velasquez is now a Master on the 4th Ray, working on one of the higher planes of this earth. He is working with the devas – 4th Ray Masters seem often to do that. His aim is to get to Mercury. See below for comments about Leonardo da Vinci.

Another not mentioned in the article is the Flemish painter Peter Paul Rubens (3.0) (1577-1640). He is now a Master on the 4th Ray and works exclusively with the deva evolution. Lorenzo Lotto (2.5) (1480-1556), the Venetian painter is also now a Master of the fifth degree. He is not at present in incarnation but is planning to be so around the turn of the century.

Works to help the Master Morya in His manifold endeavours along the 1st Ray line. This includes the stimulus of the various esoteric and occult societies, in an attempt to being their thinking along more correct lines. More recently has taken birth in a male body in Russia and will take the fifth initiation in this life. She was Count Cagliostro (3.2) in a previous incarnation.

"The Boy"(4.0) (early 20th Century) The subject of the book The Boy and the Brothers by Swami Omananda. He was a slum child from the East End of London, and suffered a great deal. He was simply a hollow personality, which was taken over by the Masters and used as a medium to teach through. The Masters very, very rarely use trance mediumship and this is the only example that we know of. Their normal method of communication is telepathy, which is the higher clairvoyance, through the medium of the soul. The telepathic method was how they gave the teachings through HP Blavatsky, Helena Roerich, Alice A. Bailey and now Benjamin Creme. (Note: The Boy is a different person from the subject of The Boy Who Saw True – see Cyril Scott )

The Catholic church was convinced of his sanctity by miracles which happened in his name after his death and as a result he was officially beatified. Benjamin Creme's Master has also confirmed miracles connected with Charbel which took place in Sweden in 1992, and also revealed that Charbel is one of the Masters currently living in the Middle East.
