The Dodecahedron and Soul Groups
Leaves of Morya's Garden - Book 1 - The Call (1924) - 68: Harmony among you brings results most cherished by us. For missions of importance we bring together harmonious persons - their current is the most powerful.
Agni Yoga (1929) - 137:
People do not want to understand group work, which multiplies the forces. The dodecahedron is one of the most perfect structures, with a dynamic power that can resist many assaults.
A group of twelve, systematically united, truly can master even cosmic events. It must be understood that the enlarging of such a group can weaken it, undermining the dynamic force of its structure.
Therefore you notice Our formations of small groups. Of course, various karmic conditions can attract more and diverse karmic elements to the group.
One cannot expel them forcibly, but one can quickly live through their effect. The duty of each developed participant of the group is to realize who the uninvited guests are, and to exert all will power to settle the old accounts of life.
Fiery World - Book 3 (1935) - 550:
One can observe that there are appearing whole groups of people formerly connected with each other. One can likewise perceive that during a certain incarnation a common interest toward the past creations of a person begins.
One can notice, as it were, a spiral of manifestation and concealment of creativeness. One should observe such paths, for such attention brings closer the understanding of the Subtle World.
So, too, do appearances of groups merit study; as indeed not only friends but also enemies may come together Here you notice a friend who retains his disposition of long ago. Likewise you see ill-wishers, who, while they do not harm you personally, hinder those near to you. The entire complex interweaving clearly indicates the strong bonds which are being outlived through many lives.
Supermundane - The Inner Life - Book 1 (1938) - 92:
So many divisive ideas have permeated the world that we must seek the common thread in all concepts.
We are called by various names in the world's many languages, and Our work is understood differently by different people. But further division should not be allowed. There is not one Teaching that has not been rent by distortion.
Even the Teaching given late in the last century has already split into many rival groups. Hence, the unification of ideas is essential.
Leaves of Morya's Garden - Book 2 - Illumination (1925) - 3.5.10:
Ask a composer if he likes unison choirs and symphonies. He will pronounce your question an absurdity, because there is no such thing as a symphony in unison. For a new tone the composer is ready to introduce the most unexpected instrument. Just so in the formation of a group - be not astonished at an apparent diversity of the members.
Not according to birth, nor habits, nor mistakes are they grouped; their contact is in spirit. They are united in a chorus by spirit, which is imponderable, invisible and inaudible. Therefore, do not reproach anyone for the pitch of his voice - its quality is what is important.
Letters of Helena Roerich I, 26 April 1934 »
I was so happy to receive the letters from my distant co-workers. We are all united by the same Teaching and we should feel like one big family. While it is not yet possible to be together physically, it is good to know that such a time will come. (Helena Roerich)
H.P. Blavatsky:
The occult sciences are dangerous for him who understands them imperfectly. Any one who gave himself up to their practice by himself, would run the risk of becoming insane; and those who study them would do well to unite in little groups of from three to seven.
These groups ought to be uneven in numbers in order to have more power; a group, however little cohesion it possesses, forming a single united body, wherein the senses and perceptions of those who work together complement and mutually help each other, one member supplying to another the quality in which he is wanting, -- such a group will always end by becoming a perfect and invincible body. "Union is strength."
The moral of the fable of the old man bequeathing to his sons a bundle of sticks which were never to be separated is a truth which will forever remain axiomatic. "The disciples (Lanoos) of the law of the Heart of Diamant (magic) will help each other in their lessons. The grammarian will be at the service of him who looks for the soul of the metals (chemist)" etc. -- (H.P. Blavatsky, Catechism of the Gupta-Vidya, The Beacon Light of Truth)
For you can no more reach the height of development to which you aspire, alone, than one of a single hive of bees can attain to the stature of a man by itself.
You are parts of a single Group Soul, as the atoms of your bodies are a part of yourselves, and as long as that Group Soul is held back by a predominance of some one or more detrimental forces, all its individual parts are restrained to just the degree that they have become responsible for the same, by "the things they have done or left undone."
So, to just the extent that you are a partaker in the wrong doing of those others, by joining in with them, countenancing their evil acts, or deliberately ignoring their effects - to just that extent you place them and yourselves under restraint.
You will yet wonder at your disregard of and indifference to the words of a great Master, "Man does net live to himself alone", for the spiritual significance of the words is so far beyond the material significance in importance and truthfulness as to be beyond comparison.
Whether you ever reach the material centre of the Temple work and become associated with your comrades there or not ; whether you are so isolated as never to meet another Temple member in your present incarnation, the fact remains that you are one of the constituent parts of a single Group Soul, else you never would have been impelled to unite yourselves with the Temple body, for you have been under the guidance of that Soul since one of its galaxy of stars watched over your first appearance on earth. ( Teachings of the Temple, Love of Ideals)
Men seek and find association together for the purpose of working, to better advantage as well as for mutual help and protection, but the closer they can keep to natural hierarchical lines, the purer will be their religious principles.
Like many other half told truths, the somewhat prevalent idea of individual growth and development is leading many bright minds astray. If God, the heavenly man, is all in all, each atom of force, substance and matter has its particular function and place in that one great entity.
The force and substance that naturally functions in the heart cannot function in the stomach. Both organs are equally necessary, yet neither could exist apart from the other, and no one man a single cell in the great body of humanity can exist or attain the highest possible development apart from his kind.
I refer to the idea expressed above, of individual development to perfection, as a half truth, because it is true only on the higher spiritual plane where perfect unity in diversity obtains, and where consciousness functions unhindered by time and space.
Until man can learn to dwell with his brothers in peace and unity upon earth, it is absolutely impossible for him to dwell with God in that conscious at-one-ment which constitutes perfection...
As steam compressed beyond a certain degree will burst asunder the receptacle which held it safely before it reached that degree, so the astral form of man may be burst asunder by the irrepressible force or power generated in that form by the attainment of conscious enlightenment, if not put to universal use. (TOT, Lesson 17)
If there is one truth more important than another to be learned in the consideration of the foregoing statements, it is the irrefutable fact of the brotherhood of man, and the importance of maintaining brotherly relations with all men.
You cannot injure another, no matter what the provocation, without laying a stone in your own pathway. You cannot assist another without clearing away some obstruction to your own development. (Hilarion, Teachings of the Temple, The Seven Rays of Evolution)
Alice Bailey :
At the second initiation the part his soul group plays in the general scheme is shown to him. [ One of seven "initiations" or major expansion of consciousness on the spiritual Path .] He becomes more aware of the different group units with whom he is intrinsically associated; he realizes who they are in their personalities. (Initiation Human and Solar)
It dawns on the initiate, as he proceeds from one initiation to another, that each time he moves forward on the path or penetrates into the heart of the Mysteries in company with those who are as he is, who share with him the same point in evolution, and who are working with him towards the same goal, that he is not alone; that it is a joint effort that is being made.
This is in fact the keynote of an Ashram, conditioning its formation. It is composed of disciples and initiates at various stages of initiate-unfoldment who have arrived at their point of ashramic consciousness together, and who will proceed together until they arrive at that complete liberation which comes when the cosmic physical plane drops below the threshold of consciousness or of sensitive awareness and no longer holds any point of interest for the initiate...
Spiritual selfishness has led the average esoteric student to appropriate initiation and to make it personal and individual.
Yet one of the prime prerequisites for initiation is a clear and concise recognition of one's own group, not through a process of wishful thinking, but through factual cooperation and work upon the physical plane. I said group, my brother, and not organisation, for they are two very different things. (Alice Bailey [DK], The Rays and Initiations)
You travel not alone but are supported, sustained and strengthened by your group brothers. In spite of the difficulties and often the increased problems of the spiritual life—the results of a renewed consecration and a more clearly defined service—the "comradeship of the Path" and the inspiration and love of the group do most certainly constitute a powerful aid and will suffice to bring to you a sense of life and love that mitigates your ancient loneliness, your solitary suffering. Work at establishing a close rapport with your group brothers. (Discipleship in the New Age I)
I assure you that groups of students, working in unison and with deep and unfaltering love for each other, can achieve significant results...(A Treatise on White Magic)
As the individual aspirants lose sight of self in service, and as they arrive at the stage of indifference to personality claims and happenings, they learn to cherish a spirit of confidence, of joy and of love, deep and lasting, for each other; they learn to work together wholeheartedly for the helping of humanity )
Seek to hold each other unwaveringly in the light of love. You have no idea of the potency of such an effort or of its power to release each other's bonds and to lift the group to an exceedingly high place.
My brother, we travel not alone. For you, again, group love, group understanding, group happiness and group work are essential to progress, real happiness and good physical health. In group work and contact comes relief from inner tension, through the sharing of force...(Discipleship in the New Age II)
[The adept] realizes that each word spoken, each deed undertaken and every look and thought has its effect for good or for evil upon the group. (A Treatise on White Magic)
If you can indeed feel, think and function as one complete unit - several personalities and one soul - it will then be relatively easy to extend the concept to a broader inclusiveness…
The members have to learn to respond, as a group, to the same spiritual, mental and human ideas, and thus swing - as a “telepathic unity” - into one united train of thought. They have, as a group, to be preoccupied with the same things which are indicated by the soul of the group, and not by one person in the group, as is apt to be the case.
They have to learn, as a group, to hold the mind steady in the light - the group mind, and not their individual minds.
In using the imagination to this end, you have to cultivate the power to ignore the outer forms and to concentrate on the inner lines of light which unite brother to brother. (Esoteric Healing)
In Aquarius, the man awakens to the beauty of group life, group interest and his individual responsibility towards the group and begins to live his life and to spend himself in the service of humanity. (Alice Bailey, Esoteric Astrology )
"I am a messenger of Light. I am a pilgrim on the way of love.
I do not walk alone, but know myself as one with all great souls,
& one with them in service.
Their strength is mine. This strength I claim.
My strength is theirs and this I freely give.
A soul, I walk on earth. I represent the one." - Mahatma DK
